Abstract
Commercialisation and shopping are often criticised not only in the public and political debate but also in the academic literature. This article probes urban fragmentation, both physical and social, as a cause of the downside of globalisation and other economic forces. | ![Blog: [O+C=A]](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/8f22fd_99ad9b44f0524f628f29d8dbbe04a6dc.jpg/v1/fill/w_250,h_353,al_c,q_90,enc_auto/8f22fd_99ad9b44f0524f628f29d8dbbe04a6dc.jpg) Blog: [O+C=A]The blog explores unconventional architectural approaches in varied contexts, Landscapes and public realm that challenges our preconceived notion about space and its usage. The Conference proposal is to discuss the role of architectural research in relation to issues linked to urban transformation, which are more relevant than ever given the widespread urbanization. |

In the center of Caracas, Venezuela, stands the 45-story "Tower of David," an unfinished, abandoned skyscraper. But about eight years ago, people started moving in. Photographer Iwan Baan shows how people build homes in unlikely places, touring us through the family apartments of Torre David, a city on the water in Nigeria, and an underground village in China. Glorious images celebrate humanity's ability to survive and make a home -- anywhere. | Urban HybridizationCollage : Shopping in the landscape presented at laboratorio di progettazione

Edge ConditionsAims and objective of this course is to understand the inherent meaning of edge. What are the tensions and multiple meanings associated with edge? What knowledge and tools we need to work with an edge? | Tsunami HousingThe project involves the construction of Tsunami housing at Kalutara, Sri Lanka, known as fisherman village who lost their houses during the fatal Tsunami in 2006. | PhenomenologySpace concepts tries to explore ideas about phenomenology of space by building models, drawings, photography, writings etc. Spaces can be both architectural and non architectural , conventional and radical, tangible and intangible. All these models are done during an academic project for a pavillion design in Venice.
| Autocatalytic BlockCommercialization and shopping are often criticised in both public and political debate, as well as in academic urban literature for producing spaces that are not entirely public and its distortion of the ‘true needs’ of the masses through commercial manipulation. |
